Issue #11298 has been updated by Gary Larizza.

Daniel - there are still some questions as to where this code should be placed
and how we should reference it. I'm just getting back from a trip, and taking
off for a Dev training in CA, so I'll try to update it during my off-hours to
get things clarified. I'll be back in Portland in a week, so hopefully we can
have a proper review at that time!

Feature #11298: Puppet should utilize CFPropertyList to read/write plist files
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/11298

Author: Gary Larizza
Status: In Topic Branch Pending Review
Priority: Normal
Assignee: Gary Larizza
Category: OSX
Target version: 2.7.x
Affected Puppet version:
Keywords:
Branch: https://github.com/glarizza/puppet-1/tree/feature/2.7.x/plist_support

Currently Puppet has to run `plutil -convert xml1` on EVERY plist it encounters
because it has no way of supporting binary plist files. The CFPropertyList
project is a Ruby library that allows direct access to read/write plist files
WITHOUT using Apple's CoreFoundation libraries (which give Puppet problems due
to green threading). Puppet should be able to utilize that library to
read/write plist files as it would speed up service resource handling
exponentially.
