Issue #11733 has been reported by Jeff McCune.
----------------------------------------
Bug #11733: puppet resource user Administrator produces invalid GID when fed to
apply on windows
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/11733
Author: Jeff McCune
Status: Unreviewed
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category:
Target version: 2.7.x
Affected Puppet version: 2.7.9
Keywords: windows group sid gid resource
Branch:
# Overview #
I expect this to work in Puppet:
puppet resource group | puppet apply
That is to say, the output of puppet resource should be idempotent and valid
input to puppet apply.
On windows I notice the produced and returned value of the GID property is not
actually valid.
# Expected Behavior #
This should be an idempotent no-op:

# Actual Behavior #
The security identifier string appears to be a problem as input.

C:\>puppet resource group Administrators > admins.pp
C:\>more admins.pp
group { 'Administrators':
ensure => 'present',
gid => 'S-1-5-32-544',
members => ['Administrator'],
}
C:\>puppet apply admins.pp
Parameter gid failed: Invalid GID S-1-5-32-544 at C:/admins.pp:5
