Issue #12051 has been reported by Robert Buchholz.

Bug #12051: Exec onlyif / unless does not capture output
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/12051
Author: Robert Buchholz
Status: Unreviewed
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category:
Target version:
Affected Puppet version: 2.6.4
Keywords:
Branch:
Puppet does not log the output of a check command to an exec, even if logoutput
is true. There are no other facilities to log the check output either.
Example:
exec { "/bin/something":
onlyif => "/bin/check",
logoutput => true,
}
Results in
debug: /Stage[main]/redacted/Exec[/bin/something]: Executing check
'/bin/check'
debug: Executing '/bin/check'
debug: ... next entity
Workaround: I can append " > /path/to/logfile 2>&1" to the check command. But
that's what I would expect "logoutput" to be there for. The way it is right now
makes it unnecessarily hard to debug scripts that fail inside puppet but not
outside (due to environment differences, for example).
