Puppet module tool (PMT) should create the scaffolding for a manifests:
puppet module manifest-create --name ssh --resources file user package
Should produce something like:
$ cat ssh.pp
# puppet documentation
...
class ssh {
file { 'resource_title'
ensure => present,
mode => 0744,
}
...
}
It should support the ability to take preference from a configuration file.
$ cat .puppetrc
[defaults]
resources: file, package, service
[resources]
...
[file]
ensure = present
mode = 0744
