Issue #12504 has been updated by William Van Hevelingen.
It fails because facter is looking for a number and doesn't handle the string
(development branch). This won't be an issue with the final release of Ubuntu
12.04
if release =~ /Ubuntu (\d+.\d+)/

https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/12504#change-54463
Author: Ken Barber
Status: Investigating
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category: library
Target version: 1.6.x
Keywords:
Branch:
Affected Facter version: 1.6.5
As mentioned in #11658, /etc/issue seems to have changed so now
operatingsystemrelease doesn't seem to work any more on Ubuntu LTS 12.04.
We'll need to confirm the details, but it looks like this is real.
