Issue #6890 has been updated by Brian Pitts.
This is a duplicate of #4550 The logging related tickets are a maze of twisty passages, all different. If there is an open issue where bringing sanity to the logging configuration and documentation is being discussed, I can't find it. Meanwhile, options that don't appear to do anything are still being documented, and you have to rely on undocumented init script features to get puppet to log where you want it to, sometimes. http://docs.puppetlabs.com/references/stable/configuration.html#puppetdlog http://docs.puppetlabs.com/references/stable/configuration.html#masterlog ---------------------------------------- Feature #6890: No default for 'puppetdlog' in puppet 2.6.6 https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/6890#change-59591 Author: Jeff Lewis Status: Needs Decision Priority: Normal Assignee: Nigel Kersten Category: logging Target version: Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: I'm running puppet 2.6.6 on Centos 5.5. puppetd is not logging to $logdir out of the box. After setting 'puppetdlog = $logdir/puppet.log' logging continues as expected. It would be great if puppetd had some sane default value for puppetdlog, like that shown above. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
