I get a lot of the following messages when I look into `/var/log/mail` of our
smtp relay
<pre>
Apr 5 12:16:11 smtp sendmail[8240]: q35AGBJq008240: puppet.example.com
[$PUPPETS_IP] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA
</pre>
Searching this in google leads to the assumption that puppet opens a socket but
then closes it again without sending any mail. I use the `smtpserver`
configoption in my `/etc/puppet/puppet.conf` so I guess it may be triggered
here:

Net::SMTP.start(Puppet[:smtpserver]) do |smtp|
reports.each do |emails, messages|
smtp.open_message_stream(Puppet[:reportfrom], *emails) do |p|
p.puts "From: #{Puppet[:reportfrom]}"
p.puts "Subject: Puppet Report for #{self.host}"
p.puts "To: " + emails.join(", ")
p.puts "Date: #{Time.now.rfc2822}"
p.puts
p.puts messages
end
end
end
</pre>
I guess an empty `reports` may trigger the described behaviour.
