$ puppet resource file /etc/hosts
file { '/etc/hosts':
ensure => 'file',
content => '{md5}9239346b47f3a7860ab408a7aeb6fe60',
ctime => 'Tue May 01 14:08:13 -0400 2012',
group => '0',
mode => '644',
mtime => 'Tue May 01 14:08:13 -0400 2012',
owner => '0',
type => 'file',
}
Mode should be '0644' here per our style guidelines.
