Issue #14692 has been updated by Kelsey Hightower.

Description updated
Status changed from Unreviewed to Accepted

Matthew,

Thanks for submitting this feature request. I'm a bit curious to why you are
being forced to rename your directories. Is it because you are generating
modules directly in the module path?

    $ cd /etc/puppet/modules
    $ puppet module generate mymodule

Feature #14692: 'pupet module generate' should have an override for the
dash-separated name requirement

Having the dash-separated name requirement as the default behaviour of 'puppet
module generate' makes good sense, since it will mostly be used for modules
being sent to the forge. However, forcing people to rename module directories
for modules not being sent to the forge is an unnecessary step.. there should
be an option for module generate to override the behaviour.
