Issue #16156 has been updated by eric sorenson.

Target version deleted (3.0.0)

Hi Sandra -- Sorry, I didn't mean to run puppet again -- Just run
`/sbin/initctl --version` as root on the agent, not through puppet.

----------------------------------------
Bug #16156: "Could not evaluate" error
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/16156#change-70497

Author: Sandra Schlichting
Status: Investigating
Priority: High
Assignee: Sandra Schlichting
Category:
Target version:
Affected Puppet version: 3.0.0-rc4
Keywords:
Branch:

When I do this

node testip {
  package {'isc-dhcp-server':
        ensure => purged,
  }
  service {'isc-dhcp-server':
        ensure => stopped,
        enable => false,
        pattern => 'dhcpd'
  }
}

I get this error

Error: /Stage[main]//Node[testip]/Service[isc-dhcp-server]: Could not evaluate:
Execution of '/sbin/initctl --version' returned 1: initctl: invalid command:
--version
Try `initctl --help' for more information.

The puppetmaster is CentOS6 with puppet 3rc3 and the node is UbuntuServer 12.04
with puppet 3rc3.

I have to use rc3, as rc4 doesn't work. See bug #16137
