Issue #15051 has been updated by Deepak Giridharagopal.

Status changed from Needs More Information to Accepted

It's also worth noting that we've gotten at least 3 different tickets filed
against puppetdb that all have this as a root cause.

Bug #15051: "puppet node clean" is hard-coded to use rails/activerecord backend
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/15051#change-71005

Author: Deepak Giridharagopal
Status: Accepted
Priority: Normal
Assignee: Deepak Giridharagopal
Category: stored configuration
Target version:
Affected Puppet version:
Keywords: storeconfigs, clean
Branch:

See #14721.

PuppetDB already has code to remove a node's data ("puppet node deactivate"),
but we can't get it to seamlessly work with "puppet node clean" as long as it's
hard-coded to assume legacy storeconfigs. This face should use some manner of
indirection to allow other storeconfigs backends to participate in node cleanup.
