Issue #16618 has been reported by R.I. Pienaar.
----------------------------------------
Bug #16618: puppet allows numeric variable names that can not be used
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/16618
Author: R.I. Pienaar
Status: Unreviewed
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category:
Target version:
Affected Puppet version: 3.0.0-rc8
Keywords:
Branch:
The code:
<pre>
$foo = "bar"
if $foo =~ /(bar)/ {
notice($1)
}
$2 = "foo"
notice($2)
</pre>
Produces:
<pre>
notice: Scope(Class[main]): bar
notice: Scope(Class[main]):
</pre>
This is obviously because $1 $2 etc are special regex match variables. So I
think the 2nd case of attempting to assign a value to such a variable should be
a compile error.
