Issue #16210 has been updated by Josh Cooper.

Status changed from Needs Decision to Closed

I'm pretty sure the deprecated behavior was no longer deprecated in 1.8.7 and 
later, and so this bug can be closed.

With Ruby 1.8.5 on RHEL 5, the agent shows these warnings when starting:

    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/provider/package/pacman.rb:17: warning: 
parenthesize argument(s) for future version
    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/util/windows/registry.rb:23: warning: 
parenthesize argument(s) for future version
