Issue #18081 has been updated by Matthaus Owens.

Yes, I'm +1 as well on this, and just noticed this behavior the other day. And
my mail filters are swallowing redmine mails, so apologies for the delay in
followup.

Bug #18081: Packaging Hiera / Puppet (hiera.yaml)
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/18081#change-82957

Author: Dennis Hoppe
Status: Investigating
Priority: Normal
Assignee: Matthaus Owens

Affected Puppet version: 3.0.1
Keywords:
Branch:

Hello,

i am testing the Puppet 3.x packages from apt.puppetlabs.com at Debian Squeeze
and think i have found a Bug regarding the usage of the file hiera.yaml.

The binary of Hiera is looking for /etc/hiera.yaml, wich will be shipped by the
package hiera, but Puppet is looking for /etc/puppet/hiera.yaml.

I think the package should use the parameter hiera_config = /etc/hiera.yaml at
/etc/puppet.conf to make this work for the Hiera binary and Puppet.

Best regards, Dennis
