This isn't very helpful when doing a case statement on $osfamily in puppet to select package names as your forced into nesting a check for $operatingsystem = "Gentoo". Gentoo truly is a family as there are many derivatives in the wild although there don't seem to be any unit tests for these operatingsystems in the facter tree.
