I think we're disagreeing over semantics. I don't see much purpose to parameterized classes if you can't declare them. For the most part, parameterized classes work. This bug is about a corner case where they do not: overriding inherited variables. I think that just documenting this failure is not enough: it also needs to be detected as an error by the compiler. *That* is the minimum to be done. It's one thing for a language to lead people to believe that something will work, when it does not.
