Issue #19409 has been reported by Dominic Cleal.

----------------------------------------
Bug #19409: puppet module errors from Puppet::Forge don't obey render mode
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/19409

Author: Dominic Cleal
Status: Unreviewed
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category: module tool
Target version:
Affected Puppet version: 2.7.14
Keywords:
Branch:

`puppet module` commands can throw errors relating to the forge which don't get
output as per the selected render mode:

    $ puppet module --render-as json install error/error
Notice: Preparing to install into /home/dcleal/.puppet/modules ...
    Notice: Downloading from https://forge.puppetlabs.com ...
Error: Could not find release information for this module (error/error)
(HTTP 410)
Error: Try 'puppet help module install' for usage

These are raised from `Puppet::Forge` and hit the default face error rendering,
which prints them out via logging. Other errors (e.g. `puppet module
--render-as json install error/error --module_repository "http://localhost"`)
follow the render mode.
