Issue #19395 has been updated by eric sorenson. Status changed from Unreviewed to Duplicate
Yes, this ties nicely into what we're talking about for content-negotiation between client and server; marking this as a dup of the master bug describing that: https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/6879 ---------------------------------------- Feature #19395: Detect client-server version mismatch, warn and optionally disallow https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/19395#change-90764 * Author: Aaron Grewell * Status: Duplicate * Priority: Normal * Assignee: * Category: * Target version: * Affected Puppet version: * Keywords: * Branch: ---------------------------------------- I've seen a number of users run into version mismatch issues between client and server, and I recently installed a newer client than server by accident even though I know better. Puppet does not even warn in this situation, it just breaks weirdly. I'd like to request that in a future release Puppet would: 1) Warn on any client-server version mismatch. 2) Have a config option to disallow clients that are newer than the master from downloading a catalog. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
