Issue #21606 has been reported by James Turnbull. ---------------------------------------- Feature #21606: Boilerplate test samples https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/21606
* Author: James Turnbull * Status: Needs Decision * Priority: Normal * Assignee: * Category: testing * Target version: * Affected Puppet version: * Keywords: testing boilerplate samples * Branch: ---------------------------------------- I was just speaking to Dean Wilson about PRs and how to help the community get more engaged. He had some feedback that I said I'd pass on. He's noticed we respond a bit with "Can we have some tests for that?" Dean's experience has been that testing for Puppet is quite scary and that this response has resulted in him and others basically giving up on the PR because the testing is so impenetrable. He suggested we produce some boilerplate test examples: 1. Tests for a function 2. Tests for a type/provider 3. Tests for a fact 4. Tests for an x And paste a link to the most closely related boiler plate into the PR. That way the contributor could cut-n-paste as a start for writing tests. As he put it: "It's nicer to get 'We like getting tests for these reasons, here are some resources on how to write them'" -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
