Issue #23177 has been updated by Nick Fagerlund. Status changed from In Topic Branch Pending Review to Merged - Pending Release
---------------------------------------- Bug #23177: Package resource documentation for ensure doesn't specify default value https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/23177#change-100159 * Author: Lee Lowder * Status: Merged - Pending Release * Priority: Normal * Assignee: Lee Lowder * Category: documentation * Target version: * Affected Puppet version: * Keywords: package documentation customer * Branch: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/pull/2076 ---------------------------------------- (from a customer) I've noticed a weird situation in using the `package` resource. As stated in http://docs.puppetlabs.com/references/latest/type.html#package-attribute-ensure, the "ensure" attribute can have one of the following values: present/installed, absent, purged, held, and latest. It's not stated in there what the default value of the attribute is. Please specify clearly in the docs what the default value of that attribute is. Sidenote: I was expecting that by setting 'ensure => undef' or not setting it at all, puppet would not try to install the package, however it still does. So: package { "pkgname": }, or package { "pkgname": ensure => undef } would still install the package (I'm actually using a more complicated manifest with some dependencies, but this illustrates the issue). -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
