Sergey Chalykh commented on an issue   Re: puppet service is missing on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS some other interesting findings I've installed sysv-rc-conf on Ubuntu and chkconfig running sysv-rc-conf --list shows puppet 0:off 1:off 2:on 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off but running chkconfig shows all other Ubuntu services but puppet root@puppet4:~# chkconfig puppet on puppet: unknown service so something during upgrade/uninstall/reinstall broke puppet service. I've checked the logs on the server and it doesn't have periodic logs for puppet agent on Ubuntu server. only the ones that I ran manually. Once Centos is puppetmaster. then i realized that Ubuntu puppet agent was a little bit outdated (version 2.7.x) then I've added puppetlab repos and updated the client. I realized that installed version was newer then on the server and other client. I've updated them as well. then...
