Kenneth Barber commented on an issue   Re: Simple storage of structured facts So currently we run Puppet::Node::Fact#stringify on facts in the terminus: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetdb/blob/master/puppet/lib/puppet/indirector/facts/puppetdb.rb#L9-L16 Which just calls String#to_s on all values: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/blob/master/lib/puppet/node/facts.rb#L62-L66 So we do handle structured facts, but all structured data will be serialized as Ruby data structures: 1.9.3p448 :001 > {:a => :b}.to_s => "{:a=>:b}" So not JSON ... but simple enough to fix in the Terminus. This does create a conundrum, in that you can't tell the difference between a string with JSON, and a structured fact that we squashed into JSON .... yay serialization. Add Comment   PuppetDB / PDB-49 Simple storage of structured facts We should verify that we don't choke on structured facts; we should, at a minumum, ensure that we're stringifying them as JSON and persisting them that way. This is an incremental step to full support.
