It seems like Nigel's comment from 5158 indicated that there was a plan in place to fix the inconsistencies, but none of this went into 3.x. Are we likely to see this cleaned up for 4.x? We just upgraded from 2.7.x to 3.4.x and I was doing some research to see if my question on the mailing list from two years ago had been fixed. I'm happy to see there was a plan in place to address the inconsistency, and I hope it becomes reality.
