See for example https://groups.google.com/a/puppetlabs.com/forum/#!topic/pe-users/CWofIETS2yY. Effectively, folks occasionally do something like this: class windows::winmon { file { 'Sys32': path => 'C:/Windows/System32', recurse => 'true', audit => 'all', } } ...and expect to be able to see activity in the PE console when something changes, with the understanding that Puppet isn't going to enforce anything. Add Comment   Puppet / PUP-893 Deprecate puppet inspect and the audit metaparameter This was added for one customer and is no longer used or supported in PE. We should deprecate it. Per Eric0: Re: inspect/audit reports – no resistance, i put it out to sales, SE, support, PS and got no push-back. Please add it to the chopping block.
