Brian Almeida commented on an issue   Re: Puppet should not reset locale This is a major issue still, and affects new installations of PostgreSQL on Debian/Ubuntu at least, the default clusters are created using the SQL_ASCII encoding instead of the system default (usually UTF-8). While the puppetlabs-postgresql module has an encoding parameter, it doesn't work: https://tickets.puppetlabs.com/browse/MODULES-189 While this was supposed to be addressed in an earlier puppet 3.x series, it looks like it was only done for the service provider: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/commit/51bbc2f I think this needs to also be set for the package provider, at least as an option..
