In short. 1. no, you can name the files any way you like, they are processed in alphanumerical order. Feel free to call them nodes_01.pp, nodes_02.pp, or a.pp, b.pp or whatever scheme you like that makes you happy. If you think documentation could explain this better, please file an issue against the relevant section in the documentation. 2. there are no general changes related to "how to use hiera" specific to 3.5.1.
