I have seen issues like you describe in facter when there is more than one resolution for a fact on a given platform. However, the kernel fact on solaris is surprisingly simple. Note that all of the other resolutions in that file are confined to different platforms. Another thought is that you might have multiple facter versions installed? perhaps as a package and as a gem? Could you verify that facter is returning the correct values: while : ; do facter kernelrelease; done Can you also capture facter --version?
