I think the solution should be to unify the checks for class and define with those for blocks. class and define should fallow the same "pass-by-name" semantics as EPP. We should then either remove instance? or implement it as:

def instance?(type, obj)

  assignable?(type, infer_set(obj))

end

Then we can work on optimizing the common code paths, if it turns out that inferring is too slow.

The following validation fails:

and produces the error:

Error: Evaluation Error: Error while evaluating a Function Call, lambda called with mis-matched arguments
expected:
lambda(Hash[Integer, String] x) - arg count {1}
