In fact, it seems that Puppet removes all %SystemRoot% references in the PATH variable in both 64 and 32 bit environments For example, before Puppet installation we had: PATH=%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Progra~2\WINDOWS RESOURCE KITS\TOOLS\ After: PATH=C:\Progra~2\WINDOWS RESOURCE KITS\TOOLS\;C:\Progra~1\PUPPET LABS\PUPPET\BIN All %SystemRoot% based variable are gone. This is major issue because it basically corrupt the entire machine as we don't have access to standard Windows command anymore: C:\Users\bhebert>hostname 'hostname' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Beside, the facter command cannot function well To install Puppet Agent, we run the following command: cmd /c msiexec /qn /i C:\puppet-x86-3.7.1.msi PUPPET_AGENT_STARTUP_MODE=Manual We don't have the issue if we use the x64 Puppet Installer., but some modules are not ready yet as they are using the C:\Windows\Sysnative path which doesn't exist in a 64 bit context.
