Henrik Lindberg commented on an issue   Re: Allow splat in interpolation to unfold and shrinkwrap Agree about calling join, and knowing what type a value has (I am on the fence regarding the value of the proposed feature, hence the "needs decision" status)). The reason I can imagine adding this is that "unfold acts as if multiple values were given individually", and the only reasonable interpretation when interpolating a splatted _expression_ would be as if user did a series of interpolations, and that it is of value to add this for the sake of consistency. Compare with the functionality if interpolate was a function: i.e. interpolate(*$a) vs interpolate($a). If instead a shrinkwrapped concatenation of the content is wanted, the user has to call join from stdlib, or address the parts individually.
