It's worth noting that if you construct it with explicit ordering, you get the dependency cycles expected. class { 'bar': } -> class { 'baz': } [master ~]# puppet apply foo.pp Notice: Compiled catalog for master.puppetlabs.vm in environment production in 0.44 seconds Error: Could not apply complete catalog: Found 1 dependency cycle: (Notify[hello] => Class[Foo] => Class[Bar] => Class[Baz] => Class[Foo] => Notify[hello]) This is non intuitive, but if you think about the classes "overlapping" during enforcement, it can almost make sense. Is this intended behaviour?
