We've gotten feedback that a lot of the patches that are sent to the puppet-dev list aren't terribly useful to our community to read and tend to overwhelm the conversation. Because of this we're going to try no longer sending patches from the internal dev team to the list (community members will still need to send patches to the list for review). We're working through the best way to do code review internally, so some of that process of nitpicking over individual lines of code may be less visible from the outside until we determine a useful way to make that visible. What will hopefully be *more* visible is discussions about the broader direction of development, in large part because there will be less distraction from this on the list.
The process outlined in http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/puppet/wiki/Development_Lifecycle still applies, including community patches being sent to the list, so let us know if you have questions about that. If we make changes, we'll update that documentation and notify the list. The code should continue to be open and easy to follow on github http://github.com/puppetlabs, and we'll be merging more frequently. For example to follow along with the stable branch of puppet or dashboard there are rss feeds available at: http://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/commits/master http://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet-dashboard/commits/master If you want to follow along with more bleeding edge development you may want to follow the 'next' branch, or follow the '2.6.x' branch for bug fixes to our most recently released version. http://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/commits/next http://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/commits/2.6.x In addition, we're tentatively planning to send out a weekly digest of the development for the week to the dev list, both for our own benefit, and for those who want to follow along.
