fwiw, we built a persistent graph model using the CORBA Relationship Service into the Tideway product to track just this type of dependency. I think that it was quite easy to build the layer and the service definitions are nicely robust and very flexible. I'm not familiar with those products, but the big challenge was in developing a useful query/manipulation language. I don't know how important this is, but stuff like checking for DAG compliance and dominance searches were tough.
