Yes, that fixed it. I switched my puppetmaster install (on Ubuntu Maverick) to 2.6.3-0ubuntu1~lucid1 from: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mathiaz/puppet-backports/ubuntu lucid main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/mathiaz/puppet-backports/ubuntu lucid main And now things work sanely.
