Probably because PuppetDB is still under development *and* many third party 
applications don't yet fully support stored configs being stored in PuppetDB.  
Currently, MySQL or PostgreSQL are still the most widely supported 
configurations for stored configs.  This is just speculation on my part, but 
it's informed speculation based on projects like The Foreman and others which 
don't yet work with it.
