Thanks Josh. Yes a colleague who spiked our "Puppet on Windows" has already discovered Chocolatey and I intend to try to use it if I have to implement this myself.
Alas so far I haven't found a ready-made package for Visual Studio 2010 but perhaps I can start from the package for Studio 2012. Still waiting to hear whether someone has already solved this.
