thats what i thought the problem would be. I was thinking if this should
not be "out of the box" on puredyne. Not sure if this is a potential
risk or there is something dangerous about it for the system or the
security. If this is not a problem should i open a ticked on this?
patrick(e)k dio:
you need to tweak Udev:
http://freebob.sourceforge.net/index.php/UdevConfiguration
i am using this method:
Allow access to a specific group of users
Use 'disk' group
There are several ways in which this can be done. One way which has been
suggested is allowing the 'disk' group access to raw1394.
Add the following to /etc/udev/rules.d/40-permissions.rules:
KERNEL="raw1394", GROUP="disk"
If you are a user with substantial privileges, this should be all that
is necessary. To be certain your user is a member of the 'disk' group:
adduser *your_user_name* disk
