i'm also in the oppinion xfce should be defaulty replaced with other
more efficient, like lxde - xfce is as heavy as gnome, and you can
feel it on slow machines, such as 200mhz ones, which ones lxde simply
shines, and is even better featured than xfce

i don't know about puredyne, but on ubuntu, installing other window
managers are easy, and on gdm (when logging out), you can choose them,
and if you want to boot them defaultly
