test done :
on a AMD Phenom 9950 with 4 gig ram, systems installed on USB drive (8
gig with 2 root partitions in ext3 for test systems)

for a 4min57sec mpeg2 PAL DVD file (720x...@9000kb/s) transcoding to
ogg/theora with ffmpeg2theora default (ffmpeg2theora bla.dvd -o bla.ogv )

on a lenny 5.01 amd64 with kernel 2.6.26-2-amd64 it took
10min59sec

on a lenny 5.01 i386 with same kernel it took
13min34sec

on the same lenny with kernel 2.6.26-2-686 it took
14min58

I'll test with oggenc and ffmpeg tomorow

cheers,

Ol.
