Hi Yvan, its tricky, but not impossible :) I recommend you to install everything in /usr/local and enter the appropriate information in all the config files, i.e. ~/.sclang.sc ~/.sclang.cfg and ~/.emacs to reflect the new location of binaries and class library. SuperCollider in p:d is indeed a bit old now (its quite impressive what has been done by the devs) but will be updated in early August for the new release.
