i was already doing what you suggest but i already did something
wrong and i dont get direct rendering. i guess i am missing
something. I dont have a xorg.conf. I run dpkg-reconfigure -phigh
xserver-xorg and it does not output anything and it does not produce
a new xorg.conf file
what kernel version are you running? are libgl1-mesa-dri and
libgl1-mesa-glx installed? are you part of the 'video' group?
AHAA!! libgl1-mesa-dri was missing. now it is working!
