just a quick and trivial question. in the future if i want to install the ubuntu based puredyne, could I install ubuntu and then "upgrade" to puredyne like before we did in Debian?

I don't see any reason why not. You can grub the packages from our
launchpad repo this time. At the moment we are focusing on geting the
livecd/usb ready and this will come with ubiquity, the ubuntu style
installer so installing permanently would be much much easier. Still
possible to do liveHD type installs though, nothing has changed, we
are using the same tools.

So the sort answer is yes and the long one not sure exactly how and if
we are gonna make this. We got to think well so its nice and clean
unlike the full install of the debian based system which was a bit of
a nightmare.

I hope i answer your question.

yes. i was thinking about this last week. Last year I installed Ubuntu and then switched to ubuntu studio. There was some problem with some settings not being the same as if I had done a full Ubuntu Studio install from scratch. I just installed a standard Ubuntu in one of my machines and it is amazing how slow it is. I guess there are tons of stuff running by default. Anyway, as you say the ubuntu install process is dead easy to use and very fast so it should not be a problem to install from scratch.
