There is quite a few funny things going with the old radeon mobility
cards, anton and I saw that on our x22s ...
adding some modesettings argument to the boot command might help for
some things.
Of course disabling acceleration is the least desired solution as it
will not use the card's GPU for OpenGl applications.

I would suggest you guys search on launchpad bug trackers for all kind
of issues with radeon cards, and if needed create or reopen a bug
related to the xorg radeon card, linking back to us saying usind the
"also affects" button thingy.
