Hello,
First thanks for the awesome distro ;) It's really nice prepared and fast.
But....
I have tried many distros until now, Ubuntu(many flavors, not studio
though. It starts only from CD, which I have none on my EEE),
puredDebian, eeebuntu, studio64, etc.
All of them where kinda problematic with sound. The best (not speaking
of puredyne) was eeebuntu.
It gives me nice pure sound, but only with normal kernel, once I
installed Realtime kernel, then the sound card produces noise.
The same thing happed with all distros I have tried.
I'm certain the noise has something to do with realtime kernel settings.
What is funny it's more noisy on left side of stereo output :) :(
The noise is present immediately when I start any app, VLC, Audacity,
And what is the most painful for me is that it's present when I start
Jack audio server.
I tried to play with the alsa mixer switched of all I could but once
the audio app is up it makes the noise.
Maybe it's something with alsa-RTkernel problem, who knows?
Does anybody has same problem, and ideally solve it somehow?
I even tried to build up my rt kernel from source but when I saw all the
options I have to choose right, I gave up.
Maybe someone of you might know what has to be avoided through the
kernel build, but frankly if I don't know on the other hand what to
choose then I'm lost anyway.
hardware: asus eee T91
kernel: 2.6.31-9-rt (last pure dyne iso, installed on internal SSD,
downloaded from Czech node9 server)
I don't mind to switch off all unnecesary things such as wifi, bluetoth,
and so on.
What I need is running Jack-rack(working touch screen, works grate with
evtouch). I want to use this Linux based eee as stompbox for my Theremin
experiences.
thanks in advance 2046
