Hi all, I am trying to install puredyne and Mac Os X 10.4 on an iMac. Right now my iMac (64-bit processor) is running Mac Os X 10.4. I have no important files on my iMac that shouldn't be erased. Further more I would like to reserve about 100 Gigabytes for puredyne and 180 Gigabytes for Mac Os X 10.4. On the http://pjirc.goto10.org/?channel=puredyne puredyne in-browser IRC client I have been told by a user named "a" the following:
(1) - download and install rEFIT - download puredyne-911-carrot_and_coriander-DVD-amd64.iso - burn puredyne-911-carrot_and_coriander-DVD-amd64.iso (as image) (2) - on Os X start Boot Camp and split your HD in 2 partitions - download rEFIT - reboot machine with puredyne DVD in - choose the "penguin" icon that will appear (3) - once you are in puredyne go to the start menu and choose: system, install puredyne - follow the step by step installer except for partitioning - choose manual partitioning - delete the FAT32 partition created by Boot Camp - add a new ext4 partition - leave some free space for the swap partition (1GB is enough) - choose "/" as mounting point - proceed with the rest of the install (you need to be online - via wired, not WiFi) (4) - reboot - when you boot you will have 2 icons, one for Os X and one (windows logo) for puredyne The most important problem is: I don't have bootcamp, so then how to partition, and partition in wich format?. This is where I am stuck. The http://pjirc.goto10.org/?channel=puredyne puredyne in-browser IRC client named "a" was extremely helpful and useful, but he had to leave quickly and we both did not realise Apple's Boot Camp software is only running under Mac Os X 10.5 or higher, whereas I am running Mac Os X 10.4 and thus I don't have Boot Camp. So then, should I run Mac Os X from my Mac Os X installation disc and partition my hard disk from there? Then again in what format should I partition? And will the statements under (2), (3) and (4) persist? Thanks in advance, Vincent Verheyen. -- View this message in context: http://puredyne.466513.n3.nabble.com/Install-puredyne-and-Mac-Os-X-10-4-on-an-iMac-running-Mac-Os-X-10-4-tp874248p874248.html Sent from the Puredyne mailing list archive at Nabble.com. --- [email protected] http://identi.ca/group/puredyne irc://irc.goto10.org/puredyne
