you have installed the official sun java ?
sun-java6-plugin on Debian.
Try to install official sun java ..
uninstall the debian version
and add this repository:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu precise main
