Hi Gilberto, Glad to hear of your success! I believe Windows 2008r2 is the first version to have backup support for virtual hardware, that is why it can restore onto different hardware. I think the technical reason it works is that the backup format is a vhd file.

The simplest way to get it running in a VM after that is to boot from the Windows Server CD and then tell it to do a system restore from your backup. It's supposed to be smart enough to accommodate different hardware during the restore.
