Yes you can. But If you expect more than 3 vms with heavy write you will
need 10Gbe (OR similar) because otherwise you will experience slow write
performance if two or more vms are doing lot of write read stuff...

I think Dimitris meant that no live migration possible when you have
only 2 nodes, each with local ZFS storage and they're backing up VMs
between themselves. Obviously no live migration is possible in this
scenario, but this allows you have nice backup solution.
