Ok, no problem. I has been able to reproduce it. It was indeed when the config
has an extra space  after the ip address or the netmask in 
/etc/network/interfaces.
(Maybe did you have wrote it manually before ?)

I have send a patch to pve-devel mailing to fix the parsing.

Unfortunately I can't remember the exact time this happened it was 
something like 3 or 4 weeks ago, I've updated since then but as all 
servers are in production right now, I can't test and verify if it's 
been fixed or not. 

I know it should be fixed, but it was not a big problem as it's supposed 
to be configured one time only in most cases and it could be fixed from 
console in the time of problem from GUI too.
