It's all a massive layering violation. Calls out for some sort of unified approach to buffer management that spans layers.
Most OS kernel developers would say that RDMA from userspace is a massive layering violation, but the benefits are (sometimes) worth the ensuing stomach-turning ;)
Here's what I'm sort of thinking now, but I'm not sure. It kind of curdles the stomach contents. Tell me if you think of a better way.
